Nurnberg defender Timothy Chandler has pulled out of the USA squad to face Italy after being ruled out for up to three weeks with a muscle injury.
The full-back, who has been linked with a move to Stuttgart, damaged his gluteals in Saturday's win at Werder Bremen.
And Nurnberg manager Dieter Hecking has confirmed Chandler will not be available for international duty for the USA on Wednesday.
Hecking told Bild: "Timothy is out. He has sustained an injury. A muscle was pulled and this will rule him out.
"It is unfortunate, as he is also missing out on an international fixture for his country."
