Potters boss praises former Upson after his opener

Tony Pulis was delighted to see his Stoke side claim their first win in five games as they beat Swansea 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium. Matthew Upson put the Potters on their way for the win when he scored his first goal for the club with a header from Matthew Etherington's corner. Peter Crouch doubled their advantage with another header from Ryan Shotton's long throw as Stoke's high pressure tactics limited Swansea's opportunities. "We are pleased because Brendan (Rodgers) and the backroom staff have done a great job there," Pulis told Sky Sports. "They play great football; they move the ball fantastically well. They work very, very hard, they are nice and compact and solid.

Energy

"I thought the lads were fantastic today with the closing down and stuff. Where they get the energy from I don't know. That is our 43rd game of the season today." Certain sections of the Stoke support were concerned after seeing their side struggle in the league and losing with a weakened team in the Europa League in midweek. However, Pulis feels their form during this period never dipped and he praised Upson after he opened his Potters account. He added: "It's always nice to get a victory after that but in those games we've been very, very unlucky in a lot of respects and I mean unlucky.
Focused
"And disappointed that one or two decisions have not gone for us but that is the league, you get good times and bad times. "The thing is that you stay focused. No-one will get carried away at this football club, everybody knows about the family of this club. "Matty has been brilliant for this football club and he's played well and we are very pleased for Matty today. "With a little bit of luck, Matty could have had two or three on the scoreboard by this time."
