Manchester United are hopeful Tom Cleverley's latest injury is not serious after he picked up a knock in the defeat by Ajax.
Cleverley picked up the foot injury during United's shock 2-1 defeat in the Europa League and was forced off on the hour mark to be replaced by Paul Scholes.
The 22-year-old has only recently returned to action after four months out with a niggling foot problem and United have sent the midfielder for a scan to find out the full extent of the injury.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that the injury is not serious and that the scans will come back all clear.
"He got a knock. We sent him for a scan but we don't think it's serious," Ferguson told MUTV.
The injury is a worry for Cleverley having been called up to the England squad for next week's friendly with Holland and he will be hoping he is not forced to withdraw from Stuart Pearce's squad for the Wembley clash with the Dutch.
