Bury have signed Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer, Sky Sports understands.
The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer, and has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Black Cats.
Carson, who has played for Northern Ireland at B level, does have extensive first-team experience having enjoyed loan stints with Chesterfield, Lincoln, Brentford and most recently Hull City.
He also spent time with Bury, where he impressed and that is why they have now returned to seal a new deal for him.
Carson has now re-signed for the Shakers and is expected to pen a permanent deal with the club in the summer.
