Striker seals return to Scotland on free transfer

Hearts have signed former Swansea striker Craig Beattie on a free transfer on a deal until the end of the season. Beattie left Swansea in January after cancelling his contract by mutual consent. The 28-year-old struggled to hold down a regular place in the Swansea side and had a spell on loan at Watford earlier this season. Beattie will be hoping to impress during his stay at Tynecastle in a bid to win a longer contract and the player admits it was an easy decision for him to move to Tynecastle once Hearts came calling. "Once the option came up it was an easy decision for me," said Beattie. "As soon as the call came I was really excited. I'm just looking forward to the games ahead now. "It was purely a football decision. I know how big the club is and I know the potential. "I've come in here until the end of the season to hopefully lift the boys and kick on." Hearts have been in the market for striking reinforcements after allowing John Sutton to join Australian side Central Coast Mariners on loan earlier this month.
