Marseille midfielder hoping to have caught Blanc's eye

Marseille midfielder Morgan Amalfitano hopes he has done enough to force his way in the France squad for the first time. The 26-year-old has consistently been overlooked by his country in the past, with a succession of coaches having favoured other options. He is, however, hoping that a switch to Stade Velodrome last summer works in his favour. Amalfitano has slipped seamlessly into the fold at Marseille and has been among their most consistent performers this season. It is now being suggested that he could be called upon for a friendly date with Germany, with national coach Laurent Blanc in the process of piecing together his plans.

Hard work

Amalfitano is hoping that he will be offered an opportunity to shine, with his performances at club level having proved that he can handle the weight of expectation. "I will pay more attention to the next squad announcement than I have done in the past," he told L'Equipe. "When you play for Marseille, your level is obvious and it is easier to be called upon. "At the moment I am working hard and when you do that, things can happen. "I do, however, appreciate that I still have a lot to prove."
