Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois has said he needs another couple of years on loan and would prefer to get English experience at another club.

Keeper has impressed in Spain but wants to delay Blues debut

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has said he will not be ready to play for them for another couple of years and would prefer to get English experience at another club. The Blues' £8million keeper, who signed from Belgian champions Genk last summer, is currently on loan to Atletico Madrid. The 6ft 5in stopper has put in several impressive performances in La Liga to earn rave reviews, but has urged Chelsea to loan him out for another one or two seasons. The 19-year-old seems to be in no rush to feature for the Blues claiming he will need time away from Stamford Bridge to adapt to English football.

Loan

"I think I will have to play for another English team for a year or two before I join Chelsea," Courtois told The People. "I need to learn about the style of play in England. Once I've done that I will see if I am ready to turn out for Chelsea. "I'm quite happy with my performances for Atletico. But given Petr Cech is one of the best keepers in the world, I think I will have to stay put. "I have time on my side, I'll carry on working and Chelsea are continuing to follow my progress."
