Liam Ridgewell says he felt immediately at home in the West Brom team when he made his debut in Sunday's 5-1 demolition of Wolves.
The defender was a £2million deadline day signing from Birmingham and his appearance at the weekend was his first for nearly a month.
Now the 27-year-old is hoping he can keep his place in the Baggies side after making a solid start to his career at the Hawthorns.
He told the club's official website: "I found out I was playing on the day of the game when we met up at the training ground.
"I was just ready to go. I came in January and it is always difficult to change a team, especially one that did well down at Fulham.
"I was ready to take my chance and hopefully show people what I can do.
"It was a good start and hopefully I can carry that on.
"If you looked at the weekend it's a team that wants to attack, wants to go forward and wants to play well.
"Everyone has been around for a little while and everyone was talking so it was easy to fit in.
"The lads have welcomed me really well and I feel comfortable here, which is really good for me.
"It doesn't get much better than that for a debut, especially being a derby win at Wolves. It was a fantastic result for us and a great debut for me"
