Rovers boss refusing to give up on contract talks

Steve Kean is refusing to give up on Blackburn's efforts to get in-demand forward Junior Hoilett to commit his long-term future to the club. Rovers had hoped to have the issue wrapped up by now, with discussions having dragged on since last summer. Hoilett is understood to be keen to stay in England, but reports of interest from afar are doing Blackburn few favours. Kean admits the club must be prepared to be patient as they continue to talk with the 21-year-old and his representatives, with it important for all parties to be happy. He remains confident that an agreement will eventually be reached, with Rovers planning to still be part of the English top-flight next season.

Form

Asked if he was starting to feel slightly pessimistic about the talks, Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Not at all, no. "We would like to think that the way that he's playing, he's been playing with a spring in his step and he's back to the form that he had before the transfer window opened so we've not given up on that. "There's no reason why, moving forward, we can't agree something that we can get pen put to paper on at the appropriate time. "I think what he's got to do is just forget about everything and just make sure he's playing and performing the way he is. "We've not given up and if it gets to the end of the season and we are where we think we're going to be, there's no reason why Junior can't agree a contract with us."
