Former Aston Villa defender signs 18-month deal

Doncaster Rovers have confirmed experienced defender Habib Beye has extended his stay at the Championship club. The 34-year-old has signed an 18-month deal after former club Aston Villa agreed to cancel his contract. Rovers boss Dean Saunders had been trying to tie up the deal since Beye left Villa Park by mutual consent earlier this month. Beye, who holds 45 international caps for Senegal, has been with the South Yorkshire club since joining on loan in November. He joins fellow countryman El-Hadji Diouf in signing a new longer-term deal as second-bottom Rovers look to avoid a return to League One.
