Manchester United have thanked Liverpool for issuing apologies following Luis Suarez's failure to shake Patrice Evra's hand before Saturday's game. Suarez was making his first start for Liverpool since returning from an eight-game suspension after being found guilty of racially abusing Evra during the two teams' meeting at Anfield in October. Uruguay international Suarez, though, apologised for his actions on Sunday after admitting he had let Liverpool down in not shaking Evra's hand. Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre said Suarez had 'misled' the club after previously informing them of his intention to shake hands with Evra. Reds boss Kenny Dalglish also revealed that he was 'shocked' to learn of Suarez's actions before the game, which United won 2-1. The Premier League champions have accepted Liverpool's apologies and are now keen to move on from the issue. "Manchester United thanks Liverpool for the apologies issued following Saturday's game," read a club statement. "Everyone at Old Trafford wants to move on from this. "The history of our two great clubs is one of success and rivalry, unparalleled in British football. That should be the focus in the future of all those who love the club."
