The Liberty Stadium: Unlikely to be expanded after decision by council
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has hit out at the local council for a decision to approve plans for a fast-food restaurant near the Liberty Stadium which could hamper any plans the club may have to expand the ground.
Swansea council have approved planning for a McDonald's near the stadium's South Stand, subject to conditions.
The Liberty Stadium Management Company, which runs the ground and includes members from Swansea, the Ospreys regional rugby team and the city council, had voiced their objection to the plans while council planning officers had also recommended that the proposal be refused.
Jenkins has spoken publicly about proposals to create a stadium with up to 30,000 seasts which he reiterated could be jeopardised by the proposals.

And Jenkins said in a statement on the club's official website: "The club's board of directors was shocked and disappointed at the short-sightedness of the decision.
"The local authority was well aware of our concerns and objections for a fast food outlet on the perimeter of the stadium and it remains to be seen whether the decision will have a detrimental effect for the further expansion plans we have for the Liberty Stadium.
"Everyone is well aware that we have started exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity at the stadium, improving fan facilities and car parking. We were already working on plans.
"There are thousands of supporters who would love to watch the Swans in action in the Premier League and we are keen to facilitate that.
"This decision may jeopardise that opportunity now for the people of Swansea."
