Leicester hoping to have striker's red card overturned

Leicester have confirmed that they are to appeal against the red card shown to Jermaine Beckford in their 1-0 defeat to Brighton. The Foxes claim to have been made aware of the reasons behind the dismissal by the Football Association and feel they have grounds for appeal. Beckford was sent off at the Amex Stadium on Saturday for using foul and abusive language. Action was taken against him following a clash with Seagulls defender Lewis Dunk. Leicester feel the match officials got the decision wrong and are hoping to have the red card overturned. As things stand, Beckford will be due to serve a suspension, ruling him out of important fixtures in the Foxes' efforts to clamber into the Championship play-off race.
