Frank de Boer has revealed Ajax are still interested in signing Luciano Narsingh from Heerenveen despite failing with a bid for the young winger late last month.
The 21-year-old's agent, Mino Raiola, claimed last week Ajax had tried to sign Narsingh but waited until late in the transfer window to do so.
Raiola said the winger declined because he did not want to make a last-minute decision on the move.
Ajax coach De Boer has suggested the club will revive their chase of the Netherlands Under 21 international in the summer.
He told Voetbal Primeur: "He was already on our list, originally for this summer.
"But with so many personnel problems, we found that we had to take action now. And we're still very interested in him."
Narsingh is hoping the Eredivisie giants come calling again at the end of the season.
"Every young player wants to go to a (big) club," he said. "(Last month) it was too short notice. Hopefully in the summer I'll get one more chance."
