Huddersfield Town have beaten Ipswich Town to the signing of highly-rated Falkirk defender Murray Wallace.

Ipswich had seen an offer for Wallace accepted last week and were due to hold talks with the 19-year-old after he had played in Falkirk's Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat by Celtic on Sunday.

However, League One club Huddersfield are now set to finalise a deal for the centre-half ahead of the close of the transfer window.

Bairns boss Steven Pressley confirmed a deal is imminent and that Wallace will finish the season with the Scottish First Division side before moving to the Galpharm Stadium in the summer.

Pressley told the club's official website: "The deal has almost been concluded but there are one or two bits and pieces to finalise.

"Murray has been fantastic for us, but it is not the parting of the ways as the deal means he will remain at Falkirk till the end of the season.

"It is an excellent bit of business by the club for, with add-ons, it could mount up to quite a substantial figure over time.

"Obviously we will miss him when he eventually goes as he is a terrific young player. However, this is part of our long-term Academy strategy and we are comfortable with the move."
