Sky Sports understands Swansea are poised to sign Peterborough defender Ryan Bennett.
Bennett is an England Under 21 international and joined Peterborough from Grimsby Town in 2009.
He has now emerged as one of the Championship's most promising defenders and his performances have not gone unnoticed among clubs in the Premier League.
Darren Ferguson recently claimed Manchester United were keeping tabs on Bennett's progress, but now Swansea have moved in to steal a march on their rivals to try and take the central defender to the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea had been linked with Watford's Adrian Mariappa, but it appears they have now turned their attentions to Bennett as they look to bolster their defensive options.
It has been suggested if Swansea can strike a deal before the transfer deadline they may loan Bennett back to Peterborough for the rest of the season.
