Augsburg have confirmed the signing of Germany Under 21 defender Matthias Ostrzolek from second division side Vfl Bochum.
The 21-year-old left-sided defender has signed a three-and-a-half year contract and joins for an undisclosed fee.
Bochum-born Ostrzolek has admitted it was a wrench to leave his hometown club, but he could not resist the lure of the Bundesliga.
Ostrzolek said: "I was born in Bochum and at Vfl Bochum for 14 years, so my departure was not easy.
"I am most grateful to Bochum for my time there and my education there. But with this move I get a chance to play in the Bundesliga and this is why I did it."
Augsburg coach Jos Luhukay told the club's official website: "I am delighted to get a commitment from Matthias Ostrzolek."
