Sky Sports sources understand Nottingham Forest have rejected an enquiry from Birmingham City to sign Lewis McGugan on loan. Highly-rated midfielder McGugan is attracting plenty of interest as Forest look to hang on to their key players before the close of the transfer window. West Ham United are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old and Birmingham are now understood to have an expressed an interest. Birmingham boss Chris Hughton is looking to boost his squad in the quest for an immediate return to the Premier League and had lined up a swoop for McGugan. However, it is understood that Forest turned down an approach from their Championship rivals to take McGugan to St Andrew's on a temporary basis. Forest are also currently considering a third bid from local rivals Leicester City for defender Wes Morgan as Steve Cotterill battles to keep his squad intact.
