Sky Sports understands Barnsley risk losing striker Ricardo Vaz Te on a free transfer after turning down several bids for the player during this month's transfer window.
Vaz Te, who is the Championship club's top scorer with 12 goals this season, has been the subject of various offers this month, but Barnsley have rejected all approaches for the Portuguese hit-man.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season after signing a one-year deal at Oakwell last summer and a number of clubs are monitoring his situation.
The former Bolton man is now thought to be considering signing a pre-contract agreement within the next couple of days with a number of La Liga and Bundesliga clubs all interested in acquiring Vaz Te's signature immediately.
Barnsley are keen to tie down Vaz Te to a new deal, but the player has declined their offer of talks over a new deal after rejecting their intial offer.
The Tykes now run the risk of losing their star striker for nothing having failed to capitalise on the offers they have received this month for the skilful attacker.
