Sky Sports understands that West Brom starlet Romaine Sawyers is poised to join Shrewsbury on loan.

Although the youngster is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Baggies, he is highly rated at the Hawthorns.

The Premier League outfit believe the 20-year-old midfielder has a bright future and are happy for him to go out on loan to continue his development.

Born in Birmingham, Sawyers has played for the Saint Kitts and Nevis Under-23s and made one appearance on loan at Shrewsbury's League Two rivals Port Vale last January.

The Shrews are currently fifth in League Two and are managed by ex-Aston Villa, Wolves and Hereford boss Graham Turner.
