Stevens heaps praise on Ling

Danny Stevens has paid tribute to the work of Torquay manager Martin Ling since his arrival at Plainmoor.

Ling took over the reins at the Gulls from Paul Buckle in the summer and, after a sticky patch of form earlier in the term, the former Leyton Orient boss has guided the Devon outfit into the npower League Two play-off places. Midfielder Stevens, who has featured prominently under Ling, reserved particular praise for his man-management skills and his ability to cope with the burden of expectation after last season's run to the play-off final. "He came in and gets on with the lads and runs it a bit differently," Stevens said. "I've been impressed with the way he works. He gets on well with the lads and he's managed it well - the expectation to do well. "He works hard and all the lads see that and we work hard too. He's totally the opposite, a totally different manager (to former boss Paul Buckle). They both have their advantages and they both manage us well but they're very different."
