Everton midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is expected to complete a move to Spartak Moscow within the next 48 hours.
The Russian club claimed on Monday that a deal had been agreed for the player, but the Merseysiders have now stated that discussions are still ongoing but are expected to be concluded within the next couple of days to seal a £5million sale.
Russia international Bilyaletdinov publicly aired his frustrations after failing to break into the starting XI last season.
And his unhappiness has carried on into this Premier League campaign after starting just seven league matches.
Now manager David Moyes is expected to cash in on the 26-year-old in the hope of raising funds to possibly bring in new players before transfer deadline day.
A spokesman told the club's official website: "Discussions over the possible sale of Diniyar are ongoing with Spartak Moscow and we would hope to conclude these in the next 48 hours."
The player, who arrived at Goodison Park from Lokomotiv Moscow in August 2009 for £9million has made 77 appearances, scoring nine goals and will move back to Russia subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms.
