Sky Sports understands Ipswich have made a new bid for Portsmouth defender Jason Pearce and that Leicester have joined the chase for the player.
As revealed by skysports.com earlier this month, Portsmouth rejected a joint-bid from Ipswich for Pearce and team-mate Joel Ward earlier this month.
Pearce has impressed at Portsmouth since arriving from Bournemouth in the summer and he has established himself as a key member of the side, making 25 appearances this term.
Portsmouth are reluctant to lose Pearce, but know they may lose some of their top stars due to their ongoing financial problems.
Ipswich are keen to bolster his defence as they look to shore up their leaky rearguard and they are hoping to lure Pearce to Portman Road.
However, Paul Jewell's side could face competition from Championship rivals Leicester who are also looking for defensive reinforcements.
Leicester have already seen two bids turned down for Nottingham Forest's Wes Morgan as they look for defensive recruits and they are now weighing up a move for Pearce.
