Rangers have cooled their interest in offering a pre-contract agreement to St Johnstone striker Francisco Sandaza.
Manager Ally McCoist admitted notifying Saints boss Steve Lomas of his interest in the Spaniard on the eve of Gers' trip to McDiarmid Park last Saturday.
However, Sandaza turned down the chance of a summer move to Ibrox, and McCoist has confirmed the club's offer is no longer on the table and they are now looking elsewhere for new recruits.
"We're still monitoring one or two centre-forwards but the Fran Sandaza deal is off at the moment," he told the club's official website.
"He has declined the offer of a pre-contract for the summer which of course he is well entitled to do.
"So at this moment in time we have withdrawn that offer but we will continue looking to strengthen in that department.
"Along with the scouting department, myself, Ian Durrant and Kenny McDowell are having a couple of meetings a day to get players to look at and see who is available."
