Sky Sports understands that Celtic have made contact with Charlton over French striker Yann Kermorgant.
However, after talks between the two clubs it appears the Scottish giants will not be lodging a formal offer.
Celtic are looking for a target-man to bolster their attacking options and their attention turned to Addicks man Kermorgant.
Kermorgant joined Charlton in the summer and has made a huge impact at The Valley, playing a major part in their promotion push which currently sees them sitting at the top of League One.
He has 18-months left on his current deal and Celtic were ready to test Charlton's resolve.
However, sources close to the player have confirmed to Sky Sports that they understand a bid would not be made after talks.
Kermorgant is also understood to be 'very happy' with life in London and is not looking to move, and indeed it is believed he would relish the chance to extend his contract with the club.
