Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson says Nicky Ajose is still part of his plans.
Ajose joined Posh from Manchester United in the summer for £300,000.
Following a good pre-season for the London Road club, he was injured just 27 minutes into his debut against Crystal Palace.
He was then sent on-loan to League One side Scunthorpe where he failed to make an impact, making just two league starts and nine appearances overall.
He made only his second Peterborough appearance as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Hull City on Saturday.
However, Ferguson says he has been impressed by the attitude and performance Ajose has shown in training since his return to the club.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "I never write any player off.
"It's up to Nicky to prove why I paid that much money for him and to be fair he has been excellent in training since he came back."
