Scunthorpe's new striker Connor Jennings will be sidelined for at least six weeks after breaking a bone in his foot.

The 20-year-old, who signed a two-year deal when arriving from Stalybridge Celtic 12 days ago, sustained the injury in training on Monday and is waiting to learn the full extent of the damage. Manager Alan Knill, who has had to contend with a long list of injuries this season, told the club's official website: "At first I thought he'd turned his ankle, but he said he felt something crack in his boot, so we took him back to the club and found that unbelievably he'd broken his fifth metatarsal. "He's going to Leeds on Tuesday for a scan. It's just disappointing for everybody because he's been a breath of fresh air since he signed. "Nobody is more disappointed than him and we're gutted too because we think we've found a player there. "We'd trained for 40 minutes before that and there was no problem and it's just one of those things, but we seem to keep getting injuries."
