Ipswich have offered teenage midfielder Josh Carson a contract extension which could keep him at Portman Road until 2015.
The Northern Ireland international's current deal expires in the summer and boss Paul Jewell wants the 18-year-old to commit his future to the Championship side.
"We have offered Josh a two-year contract, with another year on top," Jewell told the club's official website.
"We're waiting to hear back from Josh and his agent but we're hopeful that a deal can be agreed pretty soon."
Carson first broke into the starting XI in March last year and went on to score three times in his first five games. In the current campaign he has bagged two goals in 13 league games.
Regarding other potential activity in the transfer window, Jewell added: "We need experience in the side and in the squad but looking forward and for the long-term future of the club, we will be focusing on younger players."
