Promising striker Gavin Massey has returned to Watford after picking up an injury on his loan spell at Yeovil, who continue their interest.

The forward, who scored three times during his stay in Somerset, only extended his temporary deal with the Glovers last week.

However, after picking up a hamstring injury new Yeovil manager Gary Johnson decided he did not want to spend money on a player who would not be involved on matchday and Massey has therefore gone back to his parent club.

Johnson told the Western Gazette: "We needed to make sure that if we brought in a loan, another loan had to move out because we had five already.

"If he is not going to play here he is going to cost us more and that was another situation we found ourselves in.

"We wished him well and, because he is a young player, we will keep an eye on him."
