Sky Sports sources understand that West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is considering making a move for Reading striker Noel Hunt.
The Baggies boss is keen to bolster his attacking options during the winter transfer window, with injuries having hampered his plans this term.
Hunt would bring international experience to The Hawthorns, having earned three caps for the Republic of Ireland, while providing added competition for places.
Hodgson will also feel that he could get the 28-year-old, who is the younger brother of Wolves winger Stephen Hunt, for less than a proven Premier League goalscorer.
Reading would be reluctant to part with another forward, though, especially as they saw Shane Long head for West Brom over the summer.
They have no need to sell either, as Hunt still has 18 months left to run on his contract, so the ball will be placed firmly in West Brom's court when it comes to putting money on the table.
