Defender could boost Freedman's Carling Cup semi-finalists

Sky Sports sources understand Crystal Palace want to sign Hull City defender Paul McShane on loan. The Republic of Ireland international has played just two games for Hull this season and his chances have been limited under manager Nicky Barmby. McShane's one and only Championship appearance in the current campaign came in the defeat at Burnley on New Year's Eve, while he also started in the FA Cup win over Ipswich. Carling Cup semi-finalists Palace are therefore hoping to take advantage and Dougie Freedman believes the former West Brom and Sunderland man could prove a good addition. McShane, 26, would bring excellent experience to the Palace squad, as they aim to reach Wembley and continue to chase the Championship play-offs.
