Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels is unsure if he will be able to sign Derek Riordan, but believes the striker likes the club's philosophy.
Riordan is currently training with Kilmarnock after leaving Chinese side Shaanxi Chan-Ba and played in a practice match against Rangers earlier this week.
Shiels was impressed by the former Hibernian and Celtic forward, and is keen to hold talks regarding the possibility of a deal at Rugby Park.
"Derek did very well," said Shiels in the Daily Record. "That may well have been his first 90 minutes since leaving China and he needs matches but he had a good game.
"We are only at the preliminary stages of discussions and I do not know if we will get him but he really likes our philosophy and it matches up very well with how he likes to play.
"We like to get the ball into the kind of areas Derek enjoys and I think he'd relish it here.
"The quality of his play would benefit us but we can be of benefit to him as well."
