Plymouth have completed the signing of defender Maxime Blanchard until the end of the season, subject to Football League approval.
The Frenchman joined the Pilgrims on a short-term contract in November following a successful trial at Home Park and strong performances since then have convinced manager Carl Fletcher to offer the centre-back an extended stay in Devon.
Fletcher said Blanchard deserved the opportunity, telling Argyle's official website: "Max came in and has shown the hunger and desire that we wanted.
"We had him on a short-term deal to begin with, and we are pleased to extend that until the end of the season.
"It's a great opportunity for him and we hope he carries on in the vein he has since he's been here."
