Stuart Nelson's agent says Notts County boss Martin Allen is keen to see his in-form goalkeeper sign a new contract at Meadow Lane.

Allen understood to want Nelson to sign new contract

Stuart Nelson's agent says Notts County boss Martin Allen is keen to see his in-form goalkeeper sign a new contract at Meadow Lane. Nelson - who also played under Allen at Brentford - is out of contract in the summer, but has been a key player for the Magpies this season playing a total of 29 games in all competitions. And Nelson's agent Darryl Powell admits there has been interest from other clubs, but insists the 30-year-old keeper is happy at County. "We're hoping to get a contract sorted out pretty soon," Powell told the Nottingham Evening Post. "I know Martin has been really happy with him, so I'm trying to arrange a meeting with the chief executive Jim Rodwell so we can sit down and discuss a new deal.

Interested

"There are a few other clubs interested in Stuart because he has done so well for Notts, but he's very happy. "He had other offers before he joined Notts, but it is the move he wanted. He's first choice now, which he's really enjoying." Allen is a good friend of Nelson - he attended the player's wedding in Essex just last month - and Powell says he has already spoken with the County boss. He added: "I phoned Martin and he said he wants to offer Stuart a new deal, so we've just got to sort it out with Jim now."
