Assistant head coach unsure how Cahill deal is progressing

Chelsea assistant boss Roberto Di Matteo has admitted he is unsure as to when Bolton's Gary Cahill will complete his proposed deal to the club. The Trotters defender had been expected to complete his move to Stamford Bridge in time for their FA Cup third-round victory against Portsmouth on Sunday. However, the 26-year-old is reportedly still in talks with the Blues' hierarchy, with his £120,000-a-week wage demands seemingly holding up the move. And Di Matteo claims he did not know how the deal was progressing, saying: "I don't know, I am not in the loop (with the Cahill deal). "Talks are still ongoing but I don't know when it is going to happen." The Italian was less forthcoming when asked about reports that London rivals Arsenal are interested in signing Salomon Kalou. It is understood that Arsene Wenger may be lining up a shock January move for the striker, but Di Matteo added: "I know he is at the African Nations Cup with the Ivory Coast mini camp in Abu Dhabi. That is what I know."
