On-loan winger Ben Marshall is hoping he will be given permission to play in Sheffield Wednesday's FA Cup tie against West Ham United as he waits for Stoke City to make a decision on his future.
Marshall has spent the first half of the season at Hillsborough, but was not given the go-ahead to feature in the Owls' previous cup wins over Morecambe and Aldershot Town.
His current loan deal runs until 15th January and Owls boss Gary Megson wants to keep Marshall at the club for the rest of the season.
Stoke are expected to hand Marshall a new long-term contract and the 20-year-old is eager to feature in the Owls' third-round clash at home to West Ham on Sunday.

"Unfortunately, I've not been able to play in the FA Cup so far, but it is a great tie for the lads and if I'm still here then and Stoke allow me to play in it then it's one I can relish as well because it is a massive game," Marshall told
Sky Sports.
"Stoke play on the Saturday, so they might give me the go ahead to play, especially if I am going to be here for the rest of the season, but at the moment everything is up in the air."
Meanwhile, Marshall's on-loan team-mate Danny Batth says confidence is high in the Wednesday camp of causing an upset and that they should not be regarded as underdogs against West Ham.
Batth said: "It is a great marker to see where we are at because there will be some Premier League players in West Ham's team and it will be a good chance for us to show what we can do.
"On a personal note, it will be a great experience for me and at the end of the day it is a game that we will be looking to win.
"I wouldn't really class us as the underdogs because it is another big game and a chance for us to improve as a team, but we will do whatever it takes to get the right result that takes us through to the next round."
