Hamburg have bid for Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka and the Switzerland international wants to talk about his future.

Basel midfielder to seek talks with club after reports of £5.8m offer

Hamburg have bid for Basel midfielder Granit Xhaka and the Switzerland international has confirmed he would want to talk about his future with the club if they receive a 'good offer'. The Bundesliga club have reportedly tabled €7million (£5.8m) for the 19-year-old, who has previously admitted playing in the Bundesliga would be a dream. Basel have revealed they have received a "concrete offer" for Xhaka and discussions are now expected to take place over a possible January sale. Xhaka is under contract with Basel, who are due to face Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, until 2015, but he does not expect to be at the club next season. "My plan is to play for Basel until the summer," he said. "But if my club receives a good offer, we'll have to talk about it together." A move to Hamburg would see Xhaka reunited with Thorsten Fink after the manager left Basel in October to move to Germany. Xhaka played in all six of Basel's Champions League group games, as they knocked out Manchester United at the first hurdle. Keep up to date with all the latest transfer news on Sky Sports News Radio.
