Aron Gunnarsson does not expect midfield partner Peter Whittingham to leave Cardiff amid reports of interest from West Ham.
Eight-goal Whittingham has been one of the best players in the Championship this season and has been the subject of interest from a handful of clubs with the January transfer window now open.
The Hammers were reported to have had a £3million bid for the 27-year-old turned down, but team-mate Gunnarsson is convinced Whittingham will not be looking for a move elsewhere with Cardiff pushing for promotion.
He told Wales Online: "Peter comes into training with a smile on his face so I assume he's happy here. We are on a good run, I hardly think he would want to go. I think he's settled here and I don't think he wants to go.
"He would be a loss obviously. He's a great player and it would be sad to see him go, but I know for a fact the gaffer (Malky Mackay) will try to keep hold of him.
"It's not long since he signed a new deal. It would be a big loss, but we are not thinking about that at the moment. I think he is happy here and I don't want to see him go."
