David Nugent has admitted he would be happy for Leicester to sign Billy Sharp from Doncaster should the Foxes firm up their interest.
Big spending City have already seen one offer for 25-year-old Sharp rejected in the January transfer window.
And former Portsmouth forward Nugent claims he would welcome the extra competition for places.
"More the merrier," Nugent told the Leicester Mercury.
"We need competition for places.
"I heard we had an offer for Billy Sharp rejected but, if he does come in, then fair play, because he is a goalscorer.
"He is a six-yard-box tap-in player, and it is good to have competition."
