Pesch hunting new defender

Burton boss Paul Peschisolido says the club urgently need to sign a right-back as they desperately need the position covered.

Peschisolido needs to bring in a new defender ahead of the visit of Accrington on Friday night after parting company with Kevin Amankwaah and losing the services of Andy Corbett, who was sent off during the home defeat to Hereford over the Bank Holiday. Amankwaah was not offered a new deal at the end of his three-month contract last week and Corbett is the only other specialist player in that position at the Pirelli Stadium. Peschisolido is closing in on a new recruit and revealed that other moves are also in the offing. "I need to bring in a right-back as a matter of urgency and I'm fairly confident we'll get someone in quickly," the Canadian told the Burton Mail. "Initially, I expect the player I have in mind to come to us on a month's loan. "I would like the deal to be completed as quickly as possible as that would help the lad to familiarise himself and get in a couple of training sessions with the rest of the squad before Friday's game."
