Left-back makes move from Shamrock Rovers

Aston Villa have completed the signing of left-back Enda Stevens from Shamrock Rovers on a three-and-a-half-year contract, according to Sky Sports News. A deal was agreed for Stevens back in August but Villa allowed him to stay with Shamrock Rovers to help with their Europa League campaign. He recently linked up with Alex McLeish's squad for training and has now made the official after the opening of the January transfer window. Stevens, 21, is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future but he has already been warned that he must prove he is deserving of a Premier League role. McLeish has a number of experienced options at his disposal in defence and Stevens will have to work hard to break into the side. He has shown plenty of promise in his homeland over the past couple of years and has represented Republic of Ireland at Under 21 level.
