Dutch full-back Paul Verhaegh has agreed fresh terms with Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg and will now remain with the club until 2013.
His previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, leaving him sweating on his future.
Verhaegh has been an integral part of the senior set-up at Augsburg since joining from Vitesse Arnheim in 2010.
He has skippered the side at regular intervals, with coach and fellow Dutchman Jos Luhukay often handing him the armband.
The 28-year-old is delighted to have penned a new deal, allowing him to focus fully on his football.
He told the club's official website: "I have experienced 18 months at FC Augsburg and so far things have been great.
"We won promotion to the top-flight in my first season with the club. That was a great thing to go through and was a big reason behind be agreeing to stay.
"We will now do our best to remain in the top division at the end of this season.
"I am very happy to be part of what we are trying to achieve."
