Skysports.com understands Southampton are set to make a new move for Coventry striker Lukas Jutkiewicz in January.
Saints failed in a bid for Jutkiewicz.in the loan window but are keen to further strengthen their squad after the turn of the year.
Nigel Adkins' men are currently setting the pace in the race for promotion from the Championship and are believed to have identified a striker as their main priority for next month.
Jutkiewicz is thought to be at the top of their list after catching the eye with his performances for the Sky Blues over the past 18 months.
However, Southampton could find it difficult to land the 22-year-old as he is such a key player for Coventry and Andy Thorn does not want to lose him.
If Coventry do let him leave, a number of other clubs, including Middlesbrough, are thought to be tracking his progress.
