Leeds United have confirmed star winger Robert Snodgrass will be sidelined after undergoing an appendix operation.
The Scotland international had surgery to have his appendix removed on Thursday.
Snodgrass, 24, has been one of the Whites' leading performers this season, scoring eight goals in 22 league games.
It is thought he could be missing for up to a month - starting with Saturday's Championship clash at Barnsley.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "It wasn't something that was planned.
"We were hoping to keep it quiet until after the team-sheets had been exchanged at Barnsley in order not to alert our opponents.
"We're not putting any timescale on things but hopefully he won't be absent for too long."
