Rangers are considering making a move for Young Boys full-back Scott Sutter, skysports.com understands.
The English-born right-back impressed hugely in last season's UEFA Champions League when his Swiss side came up against Tottenham.
The 23-year-old, who was linked with Wigan in the summer, is now on Rangers' radar as they hope to strike a deal to take him on loan.
Rangers could be set to lose Steven Whittaker to groin surgery for two months, which had led to boss Ally McCoist looking at his options.
Sutter, who is a Swiss international, has now emerged as a possible solution for McCoist.
Sutter has never played senior football in Britain, having been with Millwall, Barnet, Aston Villa and Charlton Athletic at youth level before he moved to Switzerland with Grasshoppers in 2003.
