Tranmere boss Les Parry is hoping to extend Paul Rachubka's stay at the club to boost his goalkeeping department.

Parry moved to recruit Leeds stopper Rachubka on an emergency loan last month after first-choice stopper Owain Fon Williams underwent surgery on a broken hand.

The 30-year-old former Manchester United trainee has gone on to make three appearances for Rovers and, despite finishing on the losing side on each occasion, Parry is keen to retain Rachubka's services as Fon Williams reaches the final stages of his rehabilitation.

He told Tranmere Player: "Fon Williams had the wire taken out of his hand on Thursday and it's still another couple of weeks until he can start handling the ball, so I think we'll be approaching Leeds and asking if we can keep hold of Paul for another month."

Rachubka moved to Leeds following his release by Blackpool in the summer and endured a nightmare start to life at Elland Road, culminating in a 5-0 defeat against Blackpool in November, where he was withdrawn at half-time in favour of 18-year-old rookie Alex Cairns.
