Youngster's agent says he is enjoying life on Tyneside

Davide Santon's agent insists the Italian full-back is not suffering any homesickness despite enduring a frustrating start to life at Newcastle. The Italy Under 21 captain, who arrived on Tyneside from Inter Milan in the summer, has been hindered by knee problems since joining the Magpies, making just five appearances in all competitions. However his agent, Renzo Contratto, says he is enjoying life in the Premier League and not missing home. "He's not missing Italy, absolutely not," Contratto told BundesLigaPremier. "Davide is very happy in England and he's not missing his homeland or Italian football in general. He's working hard on a daily basis with so much enthusiasm."

Return

Santon, who has previously attracted interest from Fiorentina and Roma, could return for Friday's trip to Liverpool after a recurring knee injury flared up against West Brom last week. While Contratto admits the defender has found it difficult adjusting to life in England, he predicts a big future for the 20-year-old at St James' Park. "These first few months have been useful so that he can settle," he added. "Unfortunately injuries have slowed down his progress. "However, he has a promising future and he is a part of the project at Newcastle. "Once he also learns the language then he will be totally ready. Davide has talent and the desire to work. It's just a matter of time."
