Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that he is ready to strengthen his squad by bringing in new signings during the January transfer window.
Boro currently sit in third spot and are just three points off Championship leaders Southampton.
But Mowbray could be limited to the number of players he may be allowed to bring in due to the financial restrictions being placed on him at The Riverside.
Coventry striker Lukas Jutkiewicz is reportedly regarded as the club's top target next month, but Mowbray revealed that he is looking at up to as many as several players.
"I think things are moving on," Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. "I think we've made some enquiries. If you're doing business properly you don't wait until January 1 to ask questions.
"The sooner you start (making enquiries) going into January the better it is for making a deal that can help us.
"We've asked questions of teams but it's a waiting game, it's a game of cards at times, nobody shows their hand at the start of the game."
