Motherwell striker Jamie Murphy is confident he will be able to handle any January speculation about his future after previously struggling to come to terms with the rumours.
The highly-rated 22-year-old was reportedly being watched by a string of Premier League clubs in the summer, with the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur rumoured to be among his admirers.
Murphy, who is under contract at Fir Park until 2013, concedes he may have been affected by the ongoing speculation and questions regarding his future.
However, with the transfer window about to reopen, the six-goal forward believes he is now better prepared to deal with any interest in his situation.
"It was something new in the last transfer window. At times it was a bit hard to ignore it all," said Murphy.
"I think I have learned a wee bit from it and hopefully, if that happens again, I will be more prepared for the questions.
"It's usually all the same questions so you kind of get used to answering them. Hopefully I'll answer them a bit better in January.
"I've just been trying not to think about it. You try and perform on the pitch and do the best you can.
"If that's good enough, that's great, if not then you have to work a bit harder. It's all about what you do and not what anyone else says."
