Roberto Martinez believes the return of Tom Cleverley from injury could give Manchester United the edge in the Premier League title race.
After a bright start to the season with the Red Devils, midfielder Cleverley has spent the last two months on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Wigan boss Martinez got to know the 22-year-old last season when he spent the campaign on loan at the DW Stadium.
And after second-placed United demolished his Latics side 5-0 on Boxing Day without Cleverley, the manager believes his comeback could make them even stronger in the New Year.
Martinez told The Sun: "Tom Cleverley is a player you need to work with to understand the full package.
"The mentality he's got is quite unique. He's a winner and we all see what he can do.
"Tom will be refreshed - and that could be the key for United. He's going to be fully fit and it's going to be like having a new signing.
"He can make a big impact on the title race."
